Lillington
teen dances with TV personality
MANHATTAN, NY—Fourteen-year-old Taylor Smith of
Lillington had a dream come true Saturday.
She had a ballet lesson at the world famous
Broadway Dance Center, 221 W. 57th St., and danced with renowned actor.
Georgia Engel who played Georgette Franklin Baxter on “The Mary Tyler
Moore Show” from 1973-1977. Engel also appears on the situation comedy
“Everyone Loves Raymond.”
Engel just happened to be in the same class as
Taylor and the very soft-spoken but beloved actor spent some time with
Taylor and danced along with the rest of the class, about 30 students.
“Let’s take the picture in the hall way,” said
the gracious Engel, “because when we go into class we will be
colleagues.”
Taylor Smith, the daughter of Michael and
Barbara Smith of Lillington, began dancing when she was six. She now
dances regularly with the Cary Ballet Conservatory, 3791 NW Cary
Parkway, Cary.
“It was the highlight of our family trip to New
York,” Taylor said. “We saw the Empire State Building from the
Observatory, visited Central Park and FAO Schwarz toy store and even saw
the Rockets in “The Radio City Christmas Spectacular, but dancing at BDC
was the best!” |
